Eran Eyal has a diverse work experience spanning over several fields. Eran began their career in the Israeli Air Force, serving as a Helicopter Navigator from 1990 to 1995. In 2005, Eran worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh until 2008. Eran then took on the role of Head of Bioinformatics at the Sheba - Tel Ha Shomer Hospital's Cancer Research Center from 2008 to 2016. Additionally, they worked as a Bioinformatics Consultant at the same hospital from 2016 onwards. Eyal also served as an External Lecturer at Bar-Ilan University from 2010 onwards. In 2016, Eyal joined Evogene as a Senior Algorithm Developer and later became a Product Manager for genomics, holding both positions until 2023. Most recently, they started working at Nucleix Ltd. as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist.
Eran Eyal's education history begins with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, which they earned from 1995 to 1998. Eran then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science from The Open University of Israel, completing it from 1996 to 2001. Following this, Eyal enrolled at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Bioinformatics with a focus on Plant Metabolism from 1998 to 2001. Continuing their studies at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Eyal earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from 2001 to 2005 in the field of Bioinformatics and Biophysics.
