Nuffield is an international, non-profit institution established in the United Kingdom 70 years ago, designed to contribute to the development of the people who drive agribusiness and, consequently, to the advancement of this sector that is vital to society. To fulfill its mission, Nuffield seeks to connect forward-thinking individuals across multiple countries. Its main instrument for keeping this global network active and growing is its practical research program.
Each year (from July to October), a selection process is opened for agribusiness professionals, and the most outstanding candidates become “new Nuffield Scholars.” With financial support from Nuffield partners, these professionals take part in global conferences and travel the world — both in groups and individually — to learn about challenges and best practices in agriculture across different countries, always with the support of more than 1,700 Nuffield Scholars spread across over 15 countries.
The formal program lasts two years, during which each Scholar balances their professional activities with the development of a research project that is relevant to their region or country. They must also publish their insights and conclusions in an open report and present them at events. After completing the program, Scholars remain active in the network, engaging with peers from other countries and supporting new participants.
The purpose is clear: to contribute to the development of a sector that forms the foundation of society. Nuffield understands that achieving this requires leaders — women and men — who are technically prepared and, above all, open-minded and open-hearted.
