Brian Hashiguchi

As a senior chemist, Brian leads the design, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of novel MOFs for targeted applications and integrates new materials into proof-of-concept systems and prototypes. He also supports the identification of new product and market opportunities and assists with intellectual property strategy and execution. Brian has over 20 years of experience in industry and academia, developing innovative solutions in the commercialization of novel catalytic processes. Prior to NuMat, Brian was a senior staff scientist at The Scripps Research Institute focusing on the use of main group compounds for selective oxidation of light alkanes to esters. This work led to the inception of Hyconix, a venture-backed startup, of which he was a founding member and spent five years as a lead chemist. Brian received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
