Previously, Jacob served as a Guest Scientist at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna and a post-doctoral researcher at Stanford University. Jacob earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Washington, where they were also an IGERT big data fellow. With a focus on analyzing extensive genomics data, Jacob's research includes predicting the three-dimensional structure of genomes and developing Bayesian network models. As a prominent contributor to the open source community, Jacob has been a core developer of the scikit-learn machine learning package and created several Python packages for probabilistic modeling.
