Dave Ferguson

Co-Founder at Nuro

Dave Ferguson is currently the Co-Founder at Nuro. Prior to this, they spent 5 years at Google as the Principal Engineer, Computer Vision and Machine Learning Lead. There, they were responsible for building and leading the computer vision, machine learning, behavior prediction, and scene understanding teams for Google's self-driving car project. This was an incredibly challenging - and exciting - position that put him at the forefront of machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and reliability.

Prior to their time at Google, Dave Ferguson was the Vice President of Quantitative Research at Two Sigma Investments from October 2008 to June 2011. Dave then spent a brief period as a Senior Research Scientist at Intel Research from September 2006 to October 2008. Lastly, they were a PhD student at EPFL from August 2005 to January 2006.

Dave Ferguson completed a BSc(H) in Computer Science, Mathematics from the University of Otago. Dave then went on to complete an MS in Robotics and a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. After that, they completed a postdoctoral fellowship at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne).

They are on a team with Timothy Bergen - Head of Real Estate & Workplace, Cosimo Leipold - Head of Partnerships, and Andrew Clare - CTO. Dave Ferguson reports to Jiajun Zhu, Co-Founder & CEO.
