Dulce de Leche, also known as Manjar, Arequipa or cajeta, is a thick caramel like milk-based spread extremely popular throughout Latin America. It has a more decadent taste and a creamier texture than caramel and is versatile enough to eat alone or enjoyed in many dessert recipes. Use it to flavor candies and ice creams or as a rich filling for cupcakes and pies. It is also perfect for frosting cakes or as a spread for toast, pastries, and pancakes.
