Stephen Dang

Stephen Dang, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the legal field, particularly in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Stephen currently serves as the Vice President, Legal at Nuvation Bio since April 2021. Prior to this, they were the VP, Head of Legal Affairs at ChemoCentryx from August 2018 to April 2021. Stephen also worked as a Senior Counsel at Prothena Corporation plc from June 2017 to August 2018.

Stephen began their legal career at Latham & Watkins LLP as a Life Sciences Associate from October 2007 to March 2013. Stephen represented various technology companies in commercial and intellectual property transactions, including collaborations, licensing, and financing. Before that, they worked as a Student Fellow at the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic at UC Berkeley School of Law. Stephen gained litigation experience as a Patent Litigation Intern at Affymetrix, assisting with trial preparation and court filings for a patent litigation case.

Stephen'snotable achievements include leading legal efforts for commercial launches of pharmaceutical products, negotiating high-value commercial agreements, and advising on healthcare and privacy laws. Furthermore, they played a crucial role in the acquisition of Ceptaris Therapeutics, Inc. for $250 million.

Stephen Dang, Ph.D. has a diverse educational background. Stephen earned a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1999. Afterwards, they pursued further education and completed their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the same university in 2004. Stephen then went on to obtain a JD from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law, specializing in Law, between 2004 and 2007.
