Matthew Smith

Matthew Smith, CFA, is a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in investment management and analysis spanning over two decades. Currently, as Managing Director at Nuveen since 2009, Matthew focuses on private debt and project finance in renewable energy, transportation, and social infrastructure. Prior experiences include serving as Senior Associate at Patriarch Partners, where responsibilities included distressed credit and private equity investments, and as Senior Equity Research Analyst at Round Table Investment Management Company, focusing on utility and renewable energy sectors. Additionally, Matthew co-managed over $12 billion in investments while at Franklin Templeton Investments and has a background in leading technological projects in the money management sector with Atos. An alumnus of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Matthew holds an MBA with honors in Finance and Accounting and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
