Chao Fang

Chao Fang is a Principal Engineer at NVIDIA, where they focus on 3D perception for autonomous driving and the development of multitask machine learning models. Previously, they served as a Staff Research Scientist at the Toyota Research Institute and KLA-Tencor, contributing to 3D object detection, decision-making in ML, and advancing deep learning architectures. Chao also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Argo AI, where they designed a deep learning-based object detection stack for autonomous driving systems. They hold a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, where they also completed their BS in Aerospace Engineering at Beihang University. Chao's early career included roles at Cornell and GE, focusing on solid mechanics and gas turbine technologies.
