Matt Ashcraft

Distinguished Engineer

Matt Ashcraft is a distinguished engineer at NVIDIA since August 2023, specializing in GPU architecture. Previously, as Chief Hardware Architect at SambaNova Systems from November 2021 to August 2023, Matt contributed significantly to hardware design. From June 2017 to October 2021, Matt served as a hardware engineer at Google, focusing on chip architecture and leading the development of multiple generations of TPUs. Prior experience includes a role as Associate Vice President of Processor Engineering at Applied Micro, where Matt led the microarchitecture for X-Gene SoCs, and a founding engineering team member at Veloce Technologies. Matt's career began in technical roles at Sun Microsystems, Montalvo Systems, and Afara Websystems. Educational qualifications include a BS, AB, and MS in Electrical Engineering and Music from Stanford University.
