Joel Benjamin Heim

Joel Benjamin Heim has extensive work experience in various scientific roles. Joel Benjamin started their career as an Undergraduate and Graduate student research assistant at the University of Tuebingen in 2010, where they worked until 2012. Joel Benjamin then pursued a Dr. Smith H. and Lucille Gibson Research Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, focusing on Dermatology, Translational medicine, Molecular biology, Cell biology, and Cancer research. Afterward, they completed an Erasmus-Master student research internship at the University of Oslo in 2014. In the same year, they also conducted a research stay at the University of Tuebingen. Joel Benjamin continued their academic journey at the University of Oslo as a PhD Research Fellow, specializing in Protein Crystallography, Structural biology, Infectious diseases, Molecular biology, and Biochemistry. Joel Benjamin defended their PhD in March 2019. Joel then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oslo from 2019 until 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist at Nykode Therapeutics, with previous roles as a Vaccine Technology Scientist and an Oncology Scientist also within the same company.

Joel Benjamin Heim's education history begins with their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Tübingen, which they earned from 2009 to 2012. Joel Benjamin then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Biochemistry degree from the same university, completing it from 2012 to 2015. Following this, Heim enrolled at the University of Oslo (UiO) and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry/Structural Biology, which they obtained from 2015 to 2019. Most recently, in 2022, Heim participated in the HMX Pro online certificate program - Immunology - Vaccines and viral immunology from Harvard Medical School.
