Alan Burdick

Alan Burdick is a highly experienced Senior Staff Editor at The New York Times since September 2018 and has been a Lecturer at Yale University since September 2017. As a self-employed Book Author, notable works include "Why Time Flies: A Mostly Scientific Investigation" (2017) and the National Book Award finalist "Out of Eden: An Odyssey of Ecological Invasion" (2005). Burdick has held various editorial roles, including Staff Writer and Senior Editor at The New Yorker, and contributing positions at OnEarth Magazine, The Week, and Plenty Magazine. Additionally, Burdick served as a Content Editor for the Responsibility Project and has been a Visiting Scholar at NYU School of Journalism since September 2005. Education includes an A.B. in History and Philosophy of Science from Stanford University, with further studies at the University of Chicago.
