Alejandro Jaramillo

Alejandro Jaramillo is an experienced adjunct instructor at New York University, teaching courses in Global Christianities, Culture, Power, and Society, as well as the History and Practice of Ethnographic Film since September 2019. As a sociocultural anthropologist, Alejandro conducted ethnographic research for over two years in Colombia, focusing on the reintegration of former FARC guerrillas into civilian life through entrepreneurship. Alejandro has also worked as a freelance photographer and filmmaker for various notable clients, including El País and The New York Times, and served as a videographer for the Colombian presidency in 2024. Additionally, Alejandro has held positions as a college lecturer at Universidad de Los Andes and has experience in video editing, social media coordination, and qualitative research consulting. Alejandro's academic background includes a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology from New York University, along with multiple advanced degrees in related fields.
