Chris Barker

Assistant Director, Program Development

Chris Barker is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in program development and community engagement. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of Program Development at the Institute of Human Development and Social Change at New York University since August 2014, Chris has also held positions as Senior Manager and Grants Manager within the same institute. Prior to this role, Chris founded and led Sound Bite City, an online publication focused on urbanism, food, and music. Additional experience includes work as a Communications and Operations Assistant and Teacher at Kids Computer Club in Brussels, Financial and Operations Manager at the Institute of Human Development and Social Change, Executive Board Member of the Columbia Waterfront Neighborhood Association, and co-founder of both The Word On Columbia Street and the Urban Meadow CSA Program. Chris holds a Master's degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor's degree in Metropolitan Studies with a minor in Sociology, both from New York University.
