Greg Woolf is the Leon Levy Director of the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World at New York University. The Institute is renowned for its research in the archaeology and history of Eurasia, featuring a graduate program, research library, and visiting scholar program. Previously, Woolf served as the Ronald J. Mellor Distinguished Professor at UCLA and held the position of Director at the Institute of Classical Studies in London. With a focus on the Roman Empire’s social, cultural, and economic practices, Woolf has also written on global phenomena such as urbanism and has been involved with several prestigious academic institutions throughout their career. Woolf holds a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Ancient and Modern History from the University of Oxford.
