James Devitt

James Devitt is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public affairs and communication. Since August 2003, James has held multiple roles at New York University, including Managing Director of Public Affairs, Adjunct Professor, Director of Public Affairs, Deputy Director for Media Relations, and Senior Public Affairs Officer. Prior to this, James served as an Adjunct Professor at Baruch College and as a Senior Public Affairs Officer at Columbia University. James's career also includes positions as Communications Director at The White House Project and Adjunct Instructor at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, where foundational courses in communication were taught. Earlier experience includes roles as Communications Manager at the Council for Advancement & Support of Education and Production Assistant at The Campaign Group. Academic credentials include a BA in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, and both an MA and Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
