John Beckman is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in public affairs and media relations. Since September 1996, John has served as the Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at New York University. Prior to this role, John was the Director of Communications for the New York City Board of Education from 1993 to 1995 and worked as the Assistant Press Secretary to the Mayor of New York from 1990 to 1993. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from Dartmouth College, where studies occurred from 1979 to 1983, and attended Phillips Exeter Academy from 1975 to 1979.
