Jonathan Purtle

Associate Professor

Jonathan Purtle is an accomplished academic and health policy expert with extensive experience in public health research and education. Purtle served as a Health Policy Analyst at Drexel University School of Public Health from February 2008 to September 2010, and continued to advance in academia as an Associate Professor and Program Manager at the same institution until December 2021. Purtle’s role as Research Director and Research Associate at the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice in 2014 contributed to a strong foundation in health policy research. Additionally, Purtle co-created and wrote a public health column for The Philadelphia Inquirer, enhancing public discourse on health issues. In January 2022, Purtle took on the role of Associate Professor at New York University. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Public Health from Drexel University, a Master of Public Health from the same institution, a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Roger Williams University, and an MSc in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam.
