Justine Olderman currently serves as a Senior Researcher Scholar at the Marron Institute for Urban Management and as a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the Center on Race, Inequality, and the Law, both at New York University since January 2024. Justine has extensive experience in public defense, having held various leadership roles at The Bronx Defenders from 2000 to December 2023, culminating as Executive Director, where oversight included a staff of over 375 across multiple practice areas. Notable prior positions also include Managing Director and Supervisory roles within the organization, as well as an adjunct professorship at both Seton Hall University School of Law and Fordham University School of Law. Justine began a legal career as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Ward in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Justine holds a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan.
