Robert A. Schaefer, Jr. is an experienced photographer and educator with a diverse background in photography and architecture. Since 2008, Robert has been facilitating Cyanotype and Van Dyke workshops at the Penumbra Foundation/Center for Alternative Photography and at Photoville. As an adjunct teacher at New York University since 2003, Robert has taught various photography courses covering topics from the fundamentals of photography to more specialized workshops. Additionally, Robert has operated RAS Productions since 1987, creating images and films, and has been an independent professional artist and fine art photographer since 1974, specializing in the Wet Plate Collodion Process. Prior to these roles, Robert served as a staff writer for Double Exposure from 2000 to 2009. Robert holds a BA in Architecture from Auburn University and a Diplom Ingenieur Ardhitekt in Architecture, City Planning, and Photography from the Technical University of Munich.
