Ryan Goodman

Ryan Goodman is the Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Professor of Law at New York University, a position held since July 2009. In addition, Ryan serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief for Just Security, an online forum focused on law, democracy, rights, security, and diplomacy, since September 2013. Previously, Ryan was Special Counsel to the General Counsel at the United States Department of Defense from September 2015 to August 2016, and held the title of Rita E. Hauser Professor of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Harvard Law School from July 2002 to June 2009. Other academic roles include a Visiting Professor of Law at Yale Law School and a Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School. Ryan holds a PhD from Yale University and a JD from Yale Law School, along with a BA in Political Science and Government from The University of Texas at Austin.
