Mark Steele

Mark Steele is an accomplished financial risk professional with extensive experience in the banking and financial services sector. Currently serving as the Chief Risk Officer at OakNorth since April 2024, Mark previously held the same position at Simplyhealth from December 2020 to April 2024. Mark's career includes significant roles at Nationwide Building Society, where responsibilities included Chief Risk Officer for Nationwide for Business and oversight of lending risk and compliance. Prior to that, Mark worked at the Bank of England as a Senior Manager in the Prudential Regulation Authority, leading a supervisory team, and at the Financial Services Authority as a Lead Associate overseeing major retail and foreign banks. Mark began a career in commercial banking at the Bank of Scotland, where roles included senior analyst in leverage finance and commercial real estate underwriting. Mark holds a Bachelor's degree in Financial Services from the Institute of Financial Services and a BA in Journalism and Politics from the University of Lincoln.
