At OAL we help food manufacturers automate. We’re an innovative family business and your partner for automation and system integration. Based in Peterborough, we’re a market leader in AI, digital transformation, label and date code verification, and robotics.

The food industry is facing seismic shifts—labour shortages, the rapid adoption of AI, and new regulatory demands. At OAL, we’ve helped major brands like Bakkavor, Premier Foods, and Worldwide Fruit not only navigate these challenges but thrive by implementing cutting-edge automation solutions.

Our market-leading label and date code verification system protects over 1,600 food production lines. It ensures compliance and prevents errors on more than 40 billion products annually. With retailers requiring automated labelling checks, we’re the go-to partner for seamless onboarding, 24/7 support, and guaranteed compliance.

In 2017, we pioneered the first AI-driven vision system for printed date codes with Tesco. APRIL Eye now verifies your whole label and the products inside. We’re at the forefront of QR code adoption, working closely with GS1 to future-proof your production lines for Project Sunrise.

For manufacturers seeking to integrate shopfloor operations with ERP systems, OAL bridges the gap. We streamline operations to reduce manual input, minimise errors, and enable real-time control—just as we did for Worldwide Fruit, delivering unprecedented efficiency and traceability.

As labour shortages and rising costs persist, OAL’s APRIL robotics systems offer scalable solutions. From adaptive pick-and-place applications powered by AI vision to transformational powder handling and batch mixing - we help manufacturers boost productivity, enhance traceability, and create safer workplaces.

Whether you’re ready to tackle today’s challenges or explore tomorrow’s opportunities, visit us at the event. Let’s discuss how we can help you transform your operations with automation.
