Oasis Ministry Ventures began as an effort by former staff, campers, and community leaders to keep the property of The Oaks, a camp in Southern California that was closed due to COVID, in Kingdom service and to continue its ministry to urban youth and families. We have achieved both of these initial goals by alerting Union Rescue Mission to the upcoming sale so their donor could be poised to make a successful offer, and by relaunching winter camps at a new location coming out of COVID in March of 2022.
We are now working on expanding Christian camp ministry that empowers urban youth and families by adding more winter camp weekends, by acting as a catalyst for urban focused camping programs, and by growing summer camp opportunities for urban ministries in Southern California. In 2023, we co-lead Catalyst Camp at Mountain Pointe Retreat Center in Frazier Park with the Passion So Cal Youth Ministry Network. In 2024 we doubled our winter camps.  We are now coaching and financially supporting Passion as they lead programs in So Cal through this year and beyond. OMV continues to lead our wilderness based programs, Oasis Outback, directly by taking urban Christian schools and ministries into the backcountry for wilderness camping experiences.
