Klaus Garstenauer is a Member of the Board at ÖBB. Klaus was previously the Leiter Domestic Sales & Marketing at Thales Austria GmbH from March 2006 to March 2009. Verantwortlich für Auftragseingang Inland und Marktauftritt der Thales Austria GmbH. From September 1997 to February 2006, they were the Leiter Marketing&Vertrieb Netzzugang at ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG where they were responsible for the development of Infrastrukturbenützungsentgelts and the commercial management of access to the ÖBB railway network. From December 1995 to August 1997, they were an assistant at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) where they did research and worked on projects at the Institut für Transportwirtschaft und Logistik.

Klaus Garstenauer has a background in mechanical engineering, having studied at the Höhere technische Bundeslehranstalt Steyr. Klaus also has a degree in business administration from the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), as well as an exchange semester at the Corvinus University of Budapest and another at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, they have a certificate in traffic management from ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG.
