Cataract Surgery
With over ten years experience in modern cataract procedures (phacoemulsificatoin), Dr. Kevin Parkinson was one of the first surgeons to use intraocular implants. Today, his preferred method for removal of cataracts is small incision microsurgery with foldable implants performed under topical anesthesia to allow instant rehabilitation of vision and no patching after the procedure. Using this method, potentially dangerous injections in and around the delicate eye tissue are avoided. Most patients are able to drive without the use of spectacles shortly after this type of microsurgery. Any pre-existing astigmatism can be dealt with at the time of the surgery, making unaided vision clearer.
