J.D. Shell has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. In 2006, they began their career at Air Force Special Operations Command as an Instructor Navigator for AC-130U aircraft. J.D. then served as a Flight Commander and AC-130 Evaluator Navigator before becoming the Commander of USSOCOM's small UAS joint training unit in 2010. In 2012, J.D. Shell joined the United States Air Force as the Chief of Ops Group Training/T-1 Instructor CSO, overseeing training for the Undergraduate Combat Systems Officer Training program. J.D. later held various leadership positions at Air Force Special Operations Command from 2015 to 2020, including Chief of the Aircrew Training Branch, Chief of Strategy and Plans, and Chief of the Global Support Division. In 2020, J.D. Shell transitioned to Credence Management Solutions as a Contract Flight Instructor for AC-130J aircraft. Currently, they are working at OBXtek in the same role.
J.D. Shell obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia. The duration of this program was from 1996 to 2000. Later, from 2010 to 2012, J.D. Shell pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Trident University International.
