Treena Basu

Treena Basu, Ph.D., is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in mathematics and education. Currently serving as an Associate Professor and Department Chair at Occidental College since August 2014, Treena has taught a range of mathematics courses and engages in research focusing on data science, machine learning, and fractional partial differential equations. Treena is also a member of the Advisory Council at Occidental College and holds various roles, including Reviewer for the National Science Foundation, Trustee of the Mira Basu Educational & Charitable Trust, Distinguished Speaker at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and NCES Data Institute Fellow. Treena's prior experience includes positions at Rhodes College and Ithaca College, as well as a solid foundation in teaching and research during tenure at the University of South Carolina and the University of Texas-Pan American. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Applied and Computational Mathematics and two master's degrees in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
