Thomas Okey is the Founder and Executive Director of the Climate Sealutions Initiative, a project of The Ocean Foundation, and serves as a Strategic Advisor to various innovative organizations. With 38 years of experience in climate studies, ocean science, and conservation, they are a Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation and a Leader for Sea Change. Thomas has held positions in academia, government, and non-profit sectors, focusing on marine and terrestrial ecosystem sustainability and fostering collaborations for biodiversity conservation. They currently serve as Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Victoria. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Marine Science from San Jose State University and a PhD in Zoology from The University of British Columbia.
