Steve Mertz

Steve Mertz is a seasoned cybersecurity and systems administration professional with extensive experience in Linux and Solaris environments. Currently serving as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer at Oceaneering since May 2019, Mertz has excelled in roles such as Linux Team Lead and Cloud Administrator, as well as Senior Linux System Administrator. Prior to this, Mertz held the position of Senior Unix Administrator at Addison Group, where significant projects included the migration of Oracle infrastructure. With a background that includes system administration roles at Schlumberger - WesternGeco, Nexus Geosciences, OpenSpirit Corporation, EdgeNet Communications Corporation, Digital Integrity, and Kwantlen University College, Mertz has developed expertise in managing high-performance computing environments, implementing IT policies, and overseeing data security. Mertz holds a degree in Computer Systems: Operations and Management from Thompson Rivers University.
