Chief Medical Officer at OCHIN

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Scott Fields is responsible for providing clinical leadership and guidance to the development, implementation, and management of clinical and health IT systems, including electronic health records (EHRs) and other HIT systems. He is also responsible for the information needs of OCHIN’s clinical research, support, and clinical consulting services. Dr. Fields serves as Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine at OHSU, where he has been on faculty since 1986. As a practicing family physician and clinical leader, he has extensive experience in organizing and effectively using data in the clinical environment. As a clinical leader at an academic health center, he has expertise in integrating research into clinical care. He also has experience working with multiple EHR platforms and served as the physician lead for installing OHSU’s outpatient Epic EHR in 2006. Serving as a voting member on the 2020 Measure Application Partnership (MAP), Dr. Fields has been elected to represent OCHIN on the National Quality Forum’s Clinician Workgroup for a term of three years. Dr. Fields helps lead the population health data and analytics team that provides clinical reporting services to OCHIN’s community practices. As the leader of OCHIN’s national Clinical Oversight Group, Dr. Fields has worked with diverse clinics and communities, helping to teach clinicians and staff about the connections between training, workflow, data management, data quality, and improvements in care delivery and patient health.
