Ian brings more than 30+ years of experience as a technologist, business operator, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist including serving in CIO/CTO roles across the financial services, data services, insurance, and retail industries. He has started businesses, raised money, bought/sold/integrated companies, pivoted to new business models, scaled businesses/teams, restructured companies, and successfully led companies and teams through the Internet bubble bursting and the Great Recession.

Ian’s leadership experience includes serving as CIO & General Partner at OCA Ventures, CIO of Falcon Insurance Group, CIO for TransUnion’s US business, CIO of United Automobile Insurance Group, President of a subsidiary of InterActiveCorp, CTO of MVP.com, co-founder and President of BigEdge, and partnership positions at Accenture and Diamond Management & Technology Consultants. Ian started his career at Accenture as a DB2 Database Administrator building a Customer Care and Billing system for Telstra that was one of the largest DB2 implementations at the time. During his 5 years at TransUnion, Ian focused on large-scale data analytics, optimizing a budget of $170M+ for more than 700 employees/contractors, creating alignment across IT/Sales/Analytics, restructuring the IT department, and implementing best practices to drive improvements in execution and quality. He supported entry to new industry verticals, integrated 8 acquisitions, and supported two sales of the $1B+ revenue company as the technology co-lead – first to Madison Dearborn in 2010 and to Goldman Sachs & Advent International in 2012.

Ian has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign, where he was a two-time varsity letter winner in wrestling.
