Mark Hands has worked in the IT and Networking industry since 1996. Mark began their career at IBM as a Network Operator, where they monitored and troubleshooted network elements and assisted local helpdesks. In 1999, they joined AT&T Global Services as a Network Operator, where they provided 1st line support for ATM/Frame Relay/IP customer networks. In 2001, they moved to ntl: Telewest as a Senior Capacity Planning Engineer for their data networks, where they were responsible for network growth, capacity analysis, strategy, and budgets. In 2006, they joined Virgin Media (VMED), formerly ntl Inc and, as a Network Security Engineer. In 2010, they were promoted to Principal Architect - UK Govt Security Support at Virgin Media, where they were responsible for ensuring that their networks met lawful requirements. In 2021, they joined BAE Systems Digital Intelligence as a Solution Architect and System Build Technical Manager. Finally, in 2022, they joined Ocient as a Senior Customer Support Engineer.

Mark Hands attended Solent University from 1994 to 1996, where they obtained a BTEC HND in Computer Science.
