Carlos Escalona

Carlos Escalona is an experienced course instructor at the Houston Center for Photography since January 2025 and works as a contract photographer for OCUS, focusing on culinary images for DoorDash and Uber Eats. Since October 2020, Carlos has operated as a freelance journalist and photojournalist, with published works in prominent outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and The Guardian. Recent projects include serving as a location assistant for Marvel Studios' streaming show "Agatha All Along" in 2023. Carlos also has a background in customer service with Aeropost International Services, coupled with over a decade of experience as a travel assistant and freelance photographer, contributing to Cuban independent media and travel agencies. Academic contributions as an adjunct professor at the University of Havana, Universidad de las Artes de Cuba, and American University highlight strong teaching credentials, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from Universidad de las Artes de Cuba.
