Bas Geerts

Bas Geerts serves as the Head of Sustainability at Cefetra Group since September 2019, where efforts focus on shifting towards impactful supply chains in agriculture and food. Geerts is also a member of the European Commission's Expert Group on Protecting & Restoring the World’s Forests, advising on legislation and policy related to forest conservation. Additional roles include serving on the Advisory Board of Foodpolicy NL and participating in the OECD-FAO multi-stakeholder expert working group on business and deforestation. Previous experience includes leadership positions with the World Benchmarking Alliance, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, and various advisory roles addressing sustainability in seafood and food supply chains. Geerts holds multiple educational qualifications, including a post-doc in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Groningen and a degree in Marketing and Communications from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
