Catinka Smit

Catinka Smit is a Senior Specialist in Legislative Policy for Tax, Customs & Excise at SARS, where they lead the legislative drafting unit responsible for developing domestic and international tax laws. With a background in litigation as a state advocate and extensive experience in tax law, Catinka has managed significant tax disputes and provided legal guidance in audits and assessments. They have represented South Africa at various international tax conferences and have been an active delegate at the OECD since 2015, focusing on automatic exchange of information standards. Catinka holds multiple advanced degrees in law and taxation and has also served as a part-time lecturer at the Law Society of South Africa.
