Hamish Hobbs is a Policy Advisor currently serving in the Strategic Foresight Unit at the OECD, leading initiatives related to emerging technologies, particularly AI and synthetic biology. With extensive experience in policy development and governance of emerging technologies, Hamish contributes to the Horizontal Initiative on Anticipating and Managing Emerging Global Transformations, and supports the OECD's work through the Centre for the Governance of AI and the OECD.AI Network of Experts on AI. Previous roles include providing senior policy advice on emerging technology risks to the OECD, advising the UK government on international AI policy, and conducting research at the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University. Hamish holds multiple degrees, including a B.A. and B.Sc. from The University of Western Australia, a Research Scholar position at Oxford, and has participated in various academic programs at Lund University and universities in California.
