Luiz de Mello currently serves as a member of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council since August 2023. With extensive experience at the OECD - OCDE from January 2005 to the present, Luiz has held multiple significant roles, including Director of the Economics Department, Deputy Director of Public Governance and Territorial Development, Deputy Chief of Staff, Counsellor to the Chief Economist, and Senior Economist. Prior to this, Luiz was a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund from January 1999 to December 2004 and a Lecturer at the University of Kent from October 1993 to December 1998. Luiz holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Kent, earned between October 1990 and October 1993.
