Michael Borowitz currently serves as Chief Economist at The Global Fund, a position held since March 2013, where responsibilities include health financing, cost-effectiveness, and market shaping, along with managing relationships in health economics with organizations such as the World Bank and WHO. Additionally, Michael has held the role of Senior Health Economist at OECD since September 2009 and previously served as Senior Strategy Advisor at the U.K. Department of Health from 2008 to 2009, along with a significant tenure as Senior Health, HIV/AIDS, and Governance Advisor at the United Kingdom Department for International Development from 1999 to 2007. Earlier in career, Michael was Chief of Party for Central Asia health reform at Abt Associates from 1994 to 1999. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Health Economics and an M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
