Naoko Ueda serves as the Head of the OECD Tokyo Centre since July 2022, bringing extensive experience in international relations and development. Currently also the Director for APEC at MOFA Japan since July 2019, Ueda's previous roles include Deputy Director at the Development Centre of OECD from 2016 to 2019 and Permanent Representative of Japan to ICAO from 2014 to 2016. With a strong background in climate change negotiations, Ueda was Principal Deputy Director at MOFA Japan from 2011 to 2014 and worked as a Senior Policy Analyst at OECD from 2007 to 2011. Earlier career highlights include roles at MOFA Japan focusing on ODA and US relations, as well as serving as Vice-Consul for Economic Affairs at the Consulate General of Japan in New York.
