Steve MacFeely

Chief Statistician and Director of the Statistics and Data Directorate

Steve MacFeely is an accomplished statistician and academic with extensive experience in various leadership roles. From 2007 to 2014, Steve held the position of Assistant Director General at the Central Statistics Office. Following this tenure, Steve served as Chief Statistician at UNCTAD until 2021, and then joined the World Health Organization as Director of Data and Analytics until August 2024. Concurrently, Steve holds the title of Adjunct Professor at University College Cork since 2012 and is set to become the Chief Statistician and Director of the Statistics and Data Directorate at OECD - OCDE in August 2024. Steve is also a member of the IASE-ISLP Executive. Steve earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economic Statistics from University College Cork, completing the degree in 2011.
