Mary Vayou

Mary Vayou has an extensive work history in various roles related to data science, product delivery, project management, and consulting. Mary is currently working as a Principal in Data Science at Ofcom, starting in June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Natural England as a Principal Adviser in Data Science, where they played a crucial role in accelerating Nature's Recovery by developing data science capabilities and mentoring data scientists. Before that, they were the Head of Product Delivery at Hazy, where they collaborated with cross-functional teams to define the product strategy and prioritize the product roadmap. Mary also has experience as a Services Development Director at BMT Group Limited, where they excelled in securing funding for new projects, and as a Project Manager at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), where they successfully delivered container data management applications. Additionally, they founded and directed their own consulting business, DECISIONS HELLAS LTD, where they implemented business and product strategies and grew the business to an international clientele.

Mary Vayou has a diverse education history. In 1983 to 1989, they attended Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), where they obtained a Ptychio degree in Chemical Engineering. In 1990 to 1991, they pursued an MSc in Management Sciences at The University of Manchester. Moving forward to 2017-2018, Mary attended Columbia University to study Data Science and Analytics. Their most recent educational accomplishment was obtaining an MSc in Machine Learning from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2018-2019. Alongside their formal education, Mary has also obtained several certifications, including Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance and Lean Six Sigma Foundations from LinkedIn.
