Matt Cotton

Matt Cotton is a Senior Associate at Ofcom, focusing on Online Safety since December 2023. Prior to this role, Matt served as Principal Policy Adviser at the Information Commissioner's Office from April 2018 to December 2023, where responsibilities included innovation-related policy development. Matt's previous positions at the Information Commissioner's Office involved roles such as Senior Policy Officer in the DPIA Team and Lead Case Officer for high-priority investigations and data protection complaints. Early career experiences include working as a Selling Assistant and in stock management at John Lewis, as well as academic roles as a research student and history ambassador. Matt holds a Master's Degree in Modern History from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor's Degree in History from York St John University.
