Professor Colm Murphy

Professor Colm Murphy is an experienced media and academic professional currently serving as the Chair of the Ofcom advisory board for Northern Ireland, where they lead a team of experts on issues including Online Safety and media regulation. They are a multi-award-winning professor at Ulster University's School of Media and Communications, recognized for teaching excellence with honors including UK National Teaching Fellow and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Murphy has a significant background in international media, having produced investigative documentaries and held senior journalism roles, including at The Sunday Times. With a PhD in strategic development of high-tech industries, they have led groundbreaking national projects in digital media policy and education, and have been involved with the National Council for the Training of Journalists as both a director and chairman.
