Preston Van Loon

Preston Van Loon has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Preston is currently working as an Ethereum Core Developer at Offchain Labs since October 2022. Prior to this, Preston was a Cofounder and Ethereum Protocol Developer at Prysmatic Labs from January 2018 to October 2022. Prysmatic Labs, later acquired by Offchain Labs, focused on scaling the Ethereum protocol with sharding and proof of stake.

Before entering the blockchain space, Preston worked as a Software Engineer at Google from September 2016 to January 2019, where they contributed to the Display & Video 360 platform. Preston also founded MachinePowered in 2014, where they specialized in developing scalable custom integrations for eCommerce platforms using AWS Lambda and Node.js.

Preston's work experience also includes roles as a Software Engineer and Consultant at AlwaysBeListing from 2013 to 2018, where they developed real-time eCommerce inventory solutions for eBay and Shopify. Preston was also a Software Architect at GreenEcho, LLC in 2016, working on the Hospitality Data Management Platform called THRST. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at Gesto Technologies in 2015 and as a Software Engineer at Apex Capital Corp in 2014, where they led the development of a load board product called NextLOAD.

Preston's journey began with an internship as a Software Engineer at Magazines.com in 2013. Throughout their career, they have gained expertise in various technologies such as Node.js, MongoDB, AngularJS, AWS, Java EE, and Oracle.

Preston Van Loon pursued their education in Computer Science from 2008 to 2013 at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Preston obtained a Private Pilot's License from the FAA in August 2007.
