José E. Cabrera Lázaro is the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. He oversees all risk management strategies as well as regulatory and compliance matters.
Mr. Cabrera joined OFG in early 2020, having previously served as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Scotiabank de Puerto Rico, which, along with Scotiabank’s US Virgin Islands operation, was acquired by OFG in 2019. He had been with Scotiabank de Puerto Rico since 2007. He was named OFG’s Chief Risk and Compliance Officer in March 2020.
Prior to Scotiabank, Mr. Cabrera worked at Merck and Co.’s Manufacturing Division in Puerto Rico, where he was Audit and Tax Compliance Manager. Before that, he was a Senior Manager in the Assurance Services Group at the Big Four accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
