Daniel Newport is currently serving as the Deputy Director Price Cap at Ofgem, a position held since 2024. Prior to this, they were the Deputy Director and Head of Heat and Buildings Strategy at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from 2020 to 2022. Daniel also worked as a Senior Economist at the Department of Energy and Climate Change from 2013 to 2020 and led the Net Zero initiative for the UK at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change in 2022. In 2023, they took on the role of Deputy Director of Retail Policy at Energy UK.
