Elizabeth McLaughlin

Elizabeth McLaughlin is a Senior Expert Lawyer at Ofgem since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Scottish Water as a Senior Legal Counsel from September 2018 to June 2023. Their responsibilities in this role included handling legal aspects of digital contracts and data management, as well as advising on construction contracts and dispute resolution. Before that, they were the Group Legal Counsel for Engineering Contractor at I & H Brown Limited from September 2016 to June 2018, specializing in tender reviews and contract terms and conditions. Elizabeth also served as an Associate/Legal Director at Gillespie Macandrew from 2002 to 2016. Elizabeth started their legal career as an Advocate at the Faculty of Advocates from 1998 to 2002. Elizabeth began their professional journey as a Trainee/Solicitor with the Civil Service in 1993, where they worked as an In-House lawyer for two years post-qualification, advising government departments on law and policy.

Elizabeth McLaughlin has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Heriot-Watt University. Elizabeth also holds an LLB from The University of Edinburgh, with a field of study in Law. Additionally, Elizabeth has a Master of Laws (LLM) in Construction Law from the University of Strathclyde.
