James West currently serves as the Head of Private Office, Markets at Ofgem since August 2023. Prior to this role, James held various positions at the Department for Transport (DfT), including Head of Net Zero Strategy and Aviation Commercial Policy Adviser, among others, from February 2018 to August 2023. James also worked at the Cabinet Office as a Policy Manager and Policy Officer from March 2014 to February 2018. Earlier experience includes an internship at Investec Wealth & Investment UK and working in the constituency office of David Cameron MP. James holds a degree in History from the University of Bristol, obtained between 2010 and 2013, and attended Magdalen College School in Oxford from 2005 to 2010.
