John Phillips has extensive work experience in various regulatory and policy roles. John started their career at the Essential Services Commission in 2010, where they held multiple managerial positions in licensing and standards, energy projects, and licensing. In 2017, they worked at the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning as a Senior Policy Officer. John also served as a Manager in the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, where they worked on strategic projects. In 2019, they held the position of Manager at the Gambling Commission, focusing on licence design for the National Lottery. John also worked as a Manager at Northern Powergrid, responsible for performance and planning. Currently, they are working as a Senior Regulatory Manager at Ofgem. Overall, John has gained extensive experience in regulatory management, policy development, and strategic projects across different industries.

John Phillips completed their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) (Hons) degree from Northumbria University from the year 2000 to 2004. John then pursued a Legal Practice Course at the same university in 2004. In 2018, they attained an Agile Project Management Certified Practitioner degree from APMG International.
